I am running version 24.8.7.2 on Windows 11.
Recently it started saying that it is updating my installation every time I load LibreOffice, Calc or Writer. (These are the only modules I use.)
It only takes a few seconds but is a bit irritating.
Is this a known problem and is there a way of stopping it.
Thanks
Stewart
You can turn off auto-update.
Menu / Tools / Options / LibreOffice / Online Update, uncheck “Enable automatic update”, OK
Thank you for the quick reply.
That does stop the message but presumably also stops the automatic update (which isn’t a bad thing as long as I remember to check manually from time to time).
If you untick Enable automatic updates but leave ticked Check for updates automatically and Every month than you will get notification once a month if a new version is available but you will have to update it manually
Thank you. I have now done that.
Thank you! This was driving me crazy since the last update!
My Libreoffice just prompted me to allow updater.exe to run. Is this really LibreOffice doing this. I shut it down. Then restarted LibreOffice and it popped up again.
There is no way of knowing what some mad hacker may have done, but it is likely to be genuine.
Have a look at the replies to my question from June 2025 which also includes details of how to stop the automatic update.
