LIbre office (Check for Updates) reports my 7.3.2.2 version under win 10 /64 is the latest version, yet the Document Foundation’s website shows many more versions beyond mine. I have donated. Am I to trust Libre Office’s indication that I am using the appropriate stable version? Please advise.

No, on a “personal computer” YOU are your own admin, and have to decide, wich updates you need and check if there are problems by not doing updates.
But, if LibreOffice is not showing the correct answer on available updates, you may file a bug-report.

Some updates are adding features, most are fixing bugs, security problems wich force updates are rare with LibreOffice, but some updates can introduce new bugs.
