Want help cataloguing my book library into a database

Is it possible to use LibreOffice Base to catalog my library of books? TIA for any help.

Have a look for the Base Guide: Libre Office Documentation. Most of the content is written by an example for a library.
Databases for the Guide are available here: Sample Databases

That is VERY helpful, Robert, TY! A template helps me greatly. I need to change the descriptor words in the colums but hopefully I can figure that out. It appears to be similar to Excel. I used FileMaker Pro to make databases back in the day, but my version is quite old now.

I was beginning to think LibreOffice wouldn’t be of help in making a catalog of all my books (and later, DVDs and CDs if the book task went well!). I thought maybe a database and a “spreadsheet” (like Excel and LibreOffice’s “Base”) were 2 very different things and I was not going to be be able to use L.O. But now I am hopeful again and will see how far I can get with my project with your excellent help sending me the link to those templates! TY TY TY! Sharon

Avoid changing any column names when you reuse an existing database. The names visible in the user interface (forms and reports) can be chosen arbitrarily, overriding the tables’ column names. Before changing anything at all, you should study how everything works together. This takes days rather than hours.
