Hello,
in 2021, it looks like that it is still not possible to have a simple way for adding an image with transparency as watermark on all pages ? Someone can confirm ?

Open an empty Writer document.
Menu View|Sidebar
(Ctrl+F5
).
Styles
/ right-click on / Default Page Style
.
Select Modify
.
In the dialog “Page Style: Default Page Style” , select the tab Area / Bitmap
.
Select a bitmap or import an image.
At “Options” select e.g. “Streched”.
In the tab
Transparency
select —>> Transparency: 80% (e.g.). Click
OK
