Watermark in Writer

Hi
I have looked at the responses to ‘how to insert watermark in writer’ but they all seem arather old and aren’t helping me. I’m running LO v 7.5 and in the ‘Format’ menu dropdown there is no ‘Watermark’ nor is there anything that I can see in ‘Insert’. So how do you insert a watermark in writer in this version of LO - or is this an unfortunate bug?

On my installation:

Version: 7.5.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fcbaee479e84c6cd81291587d2ee68cba099e129
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-NZ (en_NZ); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

If you want use different images as Watermark for the Pparts of your document, then you can do it in the applied Page Styles: just import your image and put it into the Area of the Page Style.

If you really have no entry ‘Watermark’ in Format, you may try the safe-mode of LibreOffice. If the entry appears in a new profile something in you current profile prevents the item from showing…

Thank you. That’s what I was expecting to see with mine but ‘Watermark’ is missing.

Maybe I’ll try reinstalling Libre Office!

Thanks

Julian

Thank you, Timor. It’s just a simple ‘DRAFT’ that I want to insert as a watermark. I’ve done it before and was expecting to see it listed under ‘Format’ but it seems ‘Watermark’ is ‘missing’.

Maybe I’ll try reinstalling Libre Office!

Thanks for your help

Julian

Sorry, Tibor (not Timor)!

Try safe-mode first!
A re-install will not touch your profile an, if there is marked you changed the menu sometime, you may get “your” menu again in the new version. (Feature, no bug)
.
If you prefer new install rename your profile-folder. You get a fresh profile then, but can rescue macros, dictionaries … if necessary.

Thanks, I’ll try that and maybe reinstalling Libre Office too.

If it is just that item you could always add the menu item back. Click Tools > Customise. select the Menus tab and under Target select Format.
In the Available Commands pane select Watermark, you can select Columns in the right hand pane to place Watermark underneath it, then click the right-facing arrow to add Watermark to the Format menu, Click OK.
