What exactly is this and how do I turn it off?

When I opened Writer today and went into the middle of the text to correct something, instead of the usual blinking bar(?) that always shows up, there was a blinking black square which selected the whole character it was on. When writing it overwrites everything tht is after it, and I find it very inefficient (at least for my workflow) and want to turn it off. Where is the setting that toggles it?

It looks like this, if I wasn’t being clear:

P.D: I’m using LibreOffice 6.4, if it matters

Your keyboard is set to overwrite mode. You want to be in insert mode.

To toggle between these modes, press a key on your keyboard labeled Ins or Insert.

On some keyboards the insert key is missing. The status bar (bottom border of your Writer window) will show an OVER indicator. Click it to revert to INS.

If the window border does not have a status bar, enable it from the View menu.

Thank you, it worked!
