I downloaded the file, but Windows doesn’t know that to do with a “torrent” file. Neither do I. Can you tell me what to do now? Thanks.
LibreOffice has both the usual .EXE file and the torrent file available on the download page. They both get you the same program, but are different ways of downloading a file. With a torrent file you need to have a torrent application installed to use the torrent file. It distributes the download process so you download pieces of the whole program from different computers (seeds). You may just want to go back to the LibreOffice download page and download the .EXE file. Be sure to click on “Main Installer” instead of “Torrent”.
Also bittorrent reduce load of LibreOffice Official Server and probably having higher speed.
I had the same problem knowing nothing about torrent files.
It might be useful to put the different download methods on different download buttons on the Download screen so that non-techies like me don’t click the big green button in the belief that any link within it is the download file I can understand.
@Bravos = Your answer points clearly to a weak point. I also proposed an improvement a while ago and hope that we soon get a volunteer to make such an improvement.
