On a Windows PC look in %AppData%\LibreOffice\4\crash
Thanks very much for your quick response, Ash733.
I am using Windows 10 on this computer and, try as I have, I can’t find the path you have suggested. Perhaps I don’t know how to unpack %AppData%. I have used File Explorer to look for the last part of the path and have had no luck. I have also gone to C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\ and checked all the folders underneath and have not found a directory “4” nor a file “crash”. What would you suggest I do?
My main concern is to know whether the LibreOffice files (Calc files) I had open when the crash happened were sent back to you folks.
If you open explorer you can paste the whole line in (including %APPDATA%) and it will take you there. %APPDATA% is a windows shortcut or reference to your profile’s application data store. By default it would be something like “C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\crash” - replacing “username” with your windows account name.
That worked perfectly! Thanks again, Ash733.
I examined the *.dmp file (134 KB) in Notepad. Most of it was unreadable; it seemed to be encrypted. I didn’t see anything that looked like the content of the Calc files I had open when LibreOffice crashed, but with all of the “encryption” I couldn’t be sure. The total size of the Calc files in question is 188 KB. That’s a hint, I suppose, that the files may not have been not sent to you. However, as I am sure you know, there doesn’t have to be a one-to-one correspondence between the size of a plain text and the size of its encrypted version.
My main concern remains. May I take it for granted that the Calc files were not transmitted?
from Crash Report - What Data are Sent?
The crash report is anonymous. No identification information is sent and no document content is sent. The report data are sent as a multipart HTTP POST request.
You can also put the crash ID into this website to get a more useful report.
Very many thanks, Ash733. Your advice and your patience have been exemplary !
