I am currently running version 7.6.4. I see a version LibreOffice 24.2.0? What is it?
Readed it somewhere:
24 is for the year 2024.
2 is for the second yearly major release (first is 7.6, the last with this numbering format).

OK I got it. So this is a whole new numbering system. I wish the developers would have made that clear. Thanks!
Had you read the release announcement yet? If no (as the majority of those not having access to time machine), then I’ll suggest to wait and see if it will be made clear. For the time being, the existing not-wide announcements (including the link I provided) are for the curious.
The release plan, ReleasePlan - The Document Foundation Wiki , makes it clear that the system is the same as before; it is just the number that has changed. Quite an important distinction.
