When I attempt to open a spreadsheet or presentation the area remains transparent and all I see is my desktop. I have updated LibreOffice to current version and it still occurs. I am using Pearllinux and have not had this issue before.
Let me make a guess: Your Pearllinux is based on Ubuntu 20.04?
18.04 LTR base
Can you give more details about your desktop environment please: LO full release number & built, Pearl-Linux release, desktop used, graphics card, graphics driver. I don’t know much about Pearl Linux, but usually, these are required details for any problem analysis. So they might help someone else to better answer your question.
It might be worth resetting your user profile back to factory. Help | Restart in safe mode. When it restarts a window should open with some options, click the radio button near the bottom that says something like Reset User Profile, then click the button that says restart. You’ll lose your settings and you’ll have to re-enter your details. Al
I think I found a bit more detail on the issue. I have ubuntu 20.04 running and I installed compiz. While logged into compiz often the screen for libreoffice applications would be transparent. This would happen randomly. When I swicthed away from compiz libre office worked just fine.

I have to report the same problem, with every version of LO I installed from 6.1 to 7, on every version of Ubuntu from 18.04 up to 20.10.
Using Compiz, LO randomly doesn’t show the file that it’s opening (Clac, Draw and Writer).
It is quite a problem, the only workaround is to open the file from the main LO window.

Same problem here, using mint mate and since version 18 at least libreoffice did this sometimes, since latest version libreoffice is completely unusable when i use compiz. Im not going without compiz so i said goodbye to libreoffice. Tried with intel and nvidia graphics cards, multiple architectures (amd + intel) and versions of ubuntu, 18, 19 and 20
