when trying to save base file cursor changes to busy rainbow circle and does not go any further, have to force exit on Mac laptop to stop, cannot get LO base to work

running Mac OS X 10.11, base will not save a filename to be able to create a database

Is Java JDK installed? What version as some recent LO versions had problem with Java 9 but Java 8 OK.

The title is too long. See Ask/Getting started and guidelines for asking. Also, are you using an embedded database setup? It is best to avoid that whenever possible.
