I made some spelling corrections in a letter . When I closed it I clicked “save changes” button and the letter disappeared? Where did it go and how can I get it back"? I’m not in the habit of making multiple copies and even if I did would it have been disappeared as well ? I’m using windows 10 home and Fire Fox . Thanks to anyone that possibly can help.
… “save changes” …
What exactly do you mean by that?
You can either “Save” or “Save as…”.
What did you choose?
If you have chosen "Save", you can look in LibreOffice in the menu `Tools>Options>Paths`, where your documents are saved, it is at the `working directory`.
Did you check with your file manager if the file can be found in one of your directories?
Which LibreOffice version do you use?
It was a letter I wrote off line I was going to copy and paste it when I got my signal back. I pulled it up to add to and correct it.Not thinking I x out at top of page the pop up asked “save” or “don’t save” I clicked save and page one disappeared but page two remains? I have changed no settings and everything still saves to the documents folder and I have looked every where? It has to be something windows 10 you know it has more flaws than users. I’m having trouble uploading files they all are there until I go to upload one the many don’t show up in the folder that they are in. Windows only does that when I’m trying to upload. Thanks I’m just going to believe it’s another of windows flaws.
Open Writer, click File - Recent documents and select the most recent, probably Untitled 1. When it is open you can Save as to your network location, or you can click File -Properties to see where it is located.
Did you open the letter from a link in the web browser? When you open directly, a temporary copy of the file is stored in a designated (often hidden) “temp” folder.
A web browser can be configured to clear the temporary files when closing the web page (webmail, cloud storage, fileshare, etc.). If that happened, it is likely that your changes are lost.
File recovery software may bring the newly saved version back, but for corrections of one single page it may be less work to just redo, and mind the location when you save.
One thing which confuses me:
I clicked save and page one disappeared but page two remains?
Are your letter pages in separate files?
