Who else dislikes some recent LO changes ....?

I Love You Libre , But:

In recent versions some changes have effected how the Edit and Edit-in-SQL windows in Base operate;
-1) all SQL windows scroll very poorly with jumpy/jerky transitions - selection with mouse also…and of course still no left-click context-menu (e.g. for copy/paste). This may reflect situation on my old hardware and win7, but previous versions here were smoother…

2)For Views, the Edit (rather than Edit-inSQL) option had been changed so that rather than showing column definitions, an SQL-edit (ie same as with the Edit-in-SQL option) window is opened instead. Having the column definitions was MUCH more useful - in fact it is now hard to query the output column definitions of a view without creating various calls to rdb$ manually.

Does anybody else prefer the old behavior?

Hi GNK,

which version of LO do you use?
Have opened Base in LO 7.4.6.2.
Opened a query for editing in SQL.
Marked some content → right mouse click → context-menue appears.

Scrolling through SQL-Code is no problem. Could be a problem with scrollbar and very much content. In this case I use the cursor to move up and down.

Views: If I click on a view I could edit this view in GUI (“Edit …”) and I could edit it in SQL (“Edit in SQL-View…”). Tested here with internal database HSQLDB and internal Firebird.

I don’t see any changes to older versions. Only to very old versions where it has been impossible to edit views created for Firebird.

When reading what you have described I would prefer to reset the user folder of LO. Might be in %appdata%\libreoffice\4\user under Windows, rename ‘4’ to ‘4old’ so it will be written new and you could see if the behavior is almost the same.

Hi RobertG, thanks for the suggestion.

Doing this would also reset all kinds of other user/temp/cache ‘stuff’, so maybe I will try later…and report back

Also I forgot to mention that in new versions of LO:Base (at least for me) the Query will not save/open with formatting (yuk!) - previously a Query saved with ‘Native’ option selected would retain its formatting, but !alas no longer … :frowning:

(to make a Question: How To Fix That? …

(Bugzilla … to answer my own question)

But you will be first asked - often by me - : Did you try it with a reset of the user profile? I never saw such a behavior before you have reported here. And I create many databases for other users and for German Base Handbuch.

hi - yes, have reset + restored-to-last-working through safe mode GUI several times (due to unrelated ugly-SQL hang-ups) - Query text behaviour and formating (with NativeSQL on) remain as described, as does lack of column definitions for Views(like with Tables) when ‘Edit’ is selected (ie now the SQL window is opened instead)

I also forgot to say I have been using LO-latest not LO-stable for a while, and this is a problem with last 2 latest-versions (I think).

I will report back if I can add more/clarify, and/or resolve …

Pleas don’t think, but check snd report your version. Like Robert I have not seen the described behaviour from 6.0 to 7.4
