We updated the MacBook to El Capitan and downloaded Libre Office Vanilla from the Mac Store, thinking it would be most likely to be happy with the Mac - before this we would run the latest update of Libre Office, downloaded from Libre Office. This says it is version 5.0.2.2 It crashed out during editing several times, fortunately my files were recovered, but I couldn’t restart it without immediate crash, or whirling beachball of death and an eventual Force Quit. I have Microsoft Office which I use if I have to, so I have been, and it works fine. Tried Libre Office Vanilla again today, launching it from the launchpad thing, it crashed as soon as I select a file from the page of files I can open (actually I wanted to start a new document). It reliably crashes when “launched”. It will start if I just open a file. But then crashes at some point during editing, I think when I am switching between software.
This is what it says when it crashes on opening: “Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed. All the files you were working on will now be saved. The next time LibreOffice is launched, your files will be recovered automatically.”
I also use LibreOffice on a desktop running Fedora, and I can move documents to the other computer easily via Dropbox. So nothing is urgent, it is just disappointing.
Thanks
