Why LO 7.5 instead of 8.0

Just out of curiosity, if somebody here knows. How come, next version is 7.5 and not 8.0, like last few iterations, that jumped form 5.4 to 6.0, or 6.4 to 7.0?

The first LibreOffice version change was even more curious,
from 3.6.7.2
to 4.0.0.0
You can ask the developers.

4.0 introduced the sidebar which was a significant change in the GUI. I have no clue about 5.0, 6.0 , 7.0.

7.0 introduced updated icons, gui, scripting, so maybe version jump is related to changes. It was kind of random to jump from X.4 to Y.0, but I thought they may just like this rhythm. Yet I was wrong.

7.0 was the change from ODF 1.2 to ODF 1.3.

Please take a look at the release plan
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan

I was looking at release plan and release schedule, that’s why I"m surprised that they didn’t keep same principle as from version 44

I would say it related to big changes in major components rather than a numbering pattern. Sometimes not always obvious to users. Version 6 - 7 went from OpenGL to Skia/Vulkan for graphics rendering but there were also other changes.
