On http://www.libreoffice.org/download/ it says “This is a pre-release version not meant for genereal use” and then shows the download links to 3.5.4. If that is the pre-release, where’s the stable release? Or is that a bug in the web page?

The last release candidate is exactly the same as the official release if no “blocker” bugs are found. Usually version x.x.x.2 is the second release candidate and the official release e.g. current version is 3.5.4.2
