Why when I type “/etc/” it automatically becomes italicized “etc” (italics with slashes removed)
Extremely irritating when trying to write tutorial for bash programming - How do I turn this off?

As per OP’s @n1xp response, posting as a solution:

Tools > Autocorrect > Autocorrect Options > “Options” tab: uncheck “Automatic *bold*, /italic/…”.
