Will my Microsoft, Powerpoint documents open in LibreOffice 4.0 the latest version?
I know my Excel spreadsheet did open with LibreOffice, but not my Word documents.

Most documents created by MS-Office 2004 (Which is a Mac-only product, IIRC) should be readable/editable via LibreOffice, including your Word and PowerPoint documents.
As you’ve probably heard, we just released LO 4.0 this morning. Have you had a chance to try opening your documents in the latest build?
Do you have any specific Word documents that aren’t opening correctly in LO? If so, please file a bug about the problem and attach a file or two so we can track down what’s going wrong.
The QA team is rather busy today with the release and all, but they’re all really nice guys and are quite motivated to help you track down your issue!

If I may add remark I learned in a different LibO forum.
It might help to remove the doc-extension and then try to open the file in LibO.
Hi @ROSt53, What effect does removing the extension have? The fix sounds a bit like voodoo, but I’ve seen far stranger workarounds when it comes to software bugs!
Do you have files that show this behavior? (i.e. Only open w/o an extension?) It would be great to file a bug and attach an example file
