will LibreOffice open my old appleworks docs?

I was upgraded to os 10.9.1; none of my appleworks documents can be opened

Duplicate of this question.

I am not a OS X user so I can only give some reference to documentation from:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Feature_Comparison:LibreOffice-_Microsoft_Office

Import of legacy Mac OS word processing documents (MS Word for Mac (1-5.1), MS Works for Mac, ClarisWorks, AppleWorks, Write Now, MacWrite Pro)

Above statement is for LibreOffice 4.1. You can download it from: https://www.libreoffice.org/download

Just for note, LibreOffice 4.1 can only convert AppleWorks/ClarisWorks word processing files(*): see Can LO open Clarisworks / Appleworks documents (text, spreadsheet, and drawing)? .

If you have other types, http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/aw/page1.html regroups some solutions.

(*) In fact, it also accepts to convert drawing and painting documents but the result is often not good ; it will be a little better with LibreOffice 4.2…
