Window sizes - LibreOffice - Tools - Appearance

Hi, I have a problem on some machines involving the Tools - Appearance Window (this may carry over to other windows in the same area).
I have just installed 25.2.0.2 on a ‘small’ laptop - HP Spectre XT - it has a 1366x768 screen and is running Linux Mint 22.1.
The problem I have is that the Tools Options Appearance window is too tall for the screen.
It appears that this window is NOT SIZE ADJUSTABLE. The size adjustment cursors appear when hovering over the left top and right borders BUT do not allow adjustment. The bottom border is off the screen (including the action buttons on that window). The machine knows that the buttons are ‘there’ (the help pop-up appears when the mouse is moved the the expected position OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN). The lower 50% of this window is BLANK but I cannot adjust the size so that the buttons are visible. (I moved the mouse to the expected position for the button (relative to the window not the screen) and the pop-up help messages appeared (on screen).
I have done a quick check and found that ALL windows in this area are of equal size - all display with the buttons off the bottom - all are similarly sparse in content - and all NOT re-sizeable.
I know that the machine involved is somewhat aged but it still works dramatically faster than I can type.
A solution to this problem will be appreciated.
This machine dual boots to Windows 10 - The problem above is NOT evident in Windows 10
