Write on the center of a page without direct formatting

Is there a way to write on the center (horizontally and vertically) and on the bottom center of a page in Writer without using direct formatting?

You can use a Paragraph style with “Centered” property for the horizontal centering of the text.
But you can not use same method for the horizontal centering.

You can horizontaly center a Frame anchored to the Page, together with the paragraph style Frame Content. (You can use the Frame Styles)

Use a table cell; see the last field: Vertical alignment.

As already mentioned by others, centring horizontally is achieved by selecting Center alignment in paragraph style properties.

However, since Writer manages an “infinite” text flow where page boundaries are “freely” crossed, there is no setting to vertically centre within the sheet of paper. The solution is to play with Spacing distances above and below paragraph in Indents & Spacing tab of the paragraph style.

Personally, I would not use a table nor a frame.

  • You have no way to set easily the height of a Writer table row. You do this indirectly through paragraph spacing parameters. You are then back to the previous method.
  • Although a frame can be centred both horizontally and vertically in a page, you must care for a lot of other parameters such as wrap and spacing around to avoid interference with main text. And I don’t speak of the inherent difficulties with frames. So if you don’t correctly master the usual styles, paragraph and character, stay way from frames, with or without frame styles.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys/gals! I went with @ajlittoz recommendation, and after creating some new styles I got it how I wanted it.
