Writer 26.8 crashes when starting the program (but other LO programs don't)

Hi!

Just updated by LibreOffice from 26.2.5 to 26.8.0.3, Windows 11, nb-NO system.

I have no problems opening Calc or Impress or Draw. However, if I attempt to open Writer, the program immediately freezes and becomes unresponsive. The same thing happens if I try to open a .docx or .odt document from a folder (launching Writer). The program starts up, and the dialog box just freezes. 26.2 Writer worked fine, 26.8 does not.

I can open Safe Mode, but even there creating a new document causes the program to crash. I’ve done a factory reset, but to no avail.

Does anyone else experience this?

First, xx.x.0.x is still being bug fixed, don’t use it for work until at least xx.x.1.x or even a few releases later.

I suggest to reinstall 26.8.0.3 or go to Control Panel - Programs and Features right click LibreOffice and select repair.

On first opening LibreOffice go to Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View and tick the box Force Skia software rendering. Ok and allow LibreOffice to restart.
