Writer always defaults to 'Microsoft to PDF' when printing

My HP Printer is my default, but every time I go to print, Writer brings up ‘Microsoft to PDF’ as my default. I couldn’t figure out how to do it. I bring up and print on my HP, but the very next time I print it is back to ‘Microsoft to PDF’.

What am I doing wrong?
Thx
Lee

In Windows, set the HP to be the default printer. Make sure that you have installed the original HP printer driver and do not rely on the generic one provided by Windows, it causes frustration.
You might have to turn off the setting Let Windows manage my printers
.
Note. If you have printed the document previously to Microsoft print to PDF and saved to afterwards then the document will default to that printer unless you print to a different printer and save afterwards, in which case that printer will be default for the document.

THANK YOU.

It is already set as my default. First thing I did. Didn’t help. I have never printed to that PDf setting. I a.ways change it.

How do I turn off the setting Let Windows manage my printers?

Lee

Click Start menu > Settings > Bluetooth and Devices > Printers and Scanners, scroll down to Printer Preferences and turn off Allow Windows to manage my default printer

Thx. I fixed it. I deleted the PDF one. SHoulda thought of that right away.

Probably unnecessary to delete the PDF printer:

Windows provides the explanation under the selection:

When this is on, Windows will set your default printer to be the one you used most recently at your current location.

It was the easiest option esp since it kept coming up as the default option despite my making the HP as my default.

Thx again.

Also, I never used the PDF option, had the HP set as the default and EVERY
TIME Writer had the PDF one come up.

LibO always creates documents based on a template.
If you create a new Writer document without explicitly choosing a template, either the previously defined default template is used, or -in case there is none- a built-in default template.
You can edit a template with settings you don’t like via >File>Templates>Edit Templates...
The template contains printer settings. If it’s the built-in default it may have settings you don’t like. Create a new empty Writer document then, choose the settings as you want them, and save the document as a template with extension .ott.
Use >File>Templates>Manage Templates now, import your new custom template, and set it as default.
You can also use the template manager to set a different already existing template as your default.
