Writer crashes on paging down, mouse-scroll down

Shortly before updating from LibreOffice_6.4.7_Win_x64 to LibreOffice_7.3.3_Win_x64,
I had allowed the 2022-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for
x64-based Systems (KB5018410).

LO 6.4.7 Win x64 had been stable for me for almost 2 years with daily use.

Note: Win 10, x64, 16GB Ram.

I am regularly using a document with more than 800 pages in A5 size, with
TOC, Headings, and text body.

Shortly after the install of 7.3.3 Win x64, I began to experience frequent
crashes after saving the 800 page document following Alt-i-x-i,
and then immediately paging down to where I had been before recompiling the TOC.
(that behavior had never crashed my 800 page .odt under 6.4.7)

So, with the crashes under 7.3.3, I updated to 7.3.6 Win x64, and the same
crashes occur just as regularly as under 7.3.3 when I recompile the TOC and
immediately page down or mouse-scroll down.

Please advise.

Note: These crashes are now occurring with_out any recompiling of the TOC:

Simply attempting to copy numerous successive headings with their content quickly results in a crash.

Click Tools - Options - View and untick the box that says Use Skia for all rendering.

Probably, your graphics card was on the deny list for OpenGL. With the upgrade from 6.4.7.2 OpenGL was replaced by Skia

EarnestAL,

After my untick of Use Skia for all rendering and then massive page ups and downs and mouse scrolling and copying text: no crashes yet.

If they resume, I will comment here.

Thank you so much: I need to get “things done” :slightly_smiling_face:

Still no new crashes.

for add’l details, in case they help the team:
