Writer document, header is same as footer, I can't un-sync them

I have a large Writer file. Suddenly, it has the same text and page numbers in the headers and the footers. Identical. If I edit one, the other is also edited. I want DIFFERENT text in the header and footer.

How do I un-sync them?

Also, the page numbers are suddenly in roman numerals (I, II, III, IV, etc). I double click on the page number, and the “Edit Fields” panel pops up, and it has many different options, including “0001, 0002,. 0003, …”, and “001, 002, 003, …”, and “01, 02, 03, …”. But there is no option for “1, 2, 3, …” WHY NOT?

I found the answer to my second question – somehow, in Page Style, I had inadvertently selected roman numeral. I changed the setting, problem solved…although I still think it’s odd that the “Edit Fields” panel doesn’t offer the standard “1, 2, 3, …” as an option.

…But I still have the problem of mirror-image headers and footers…

Well, son of a… I thought I’d tried everything. But I hadn’t. I closed the file, then opened it, and the strange link between header and footer wasn’t there any more.

I do wonder what caused it to happen in the first place, but it isn’t affecting me now, so…pleas disregard the question.
