Hi there, I have just started using Libre office, am just using writer. It is crashing every time I use it, multiple times so am losing work. It doesn’t seem to auto-save at least not often enough. I have checked and it is up to date. by crashing I mean I open it, start writing, it freezes, then closes, I recover it but any recent changes are lost. Please help me resolve this otherwise I will have to stop using it. I am using a Microsoft surface pro 5 i5. Thanks

First step I would try is to disable Skia: click Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View and under Graphics Output untick the box Use Skia for all rendering

It might be related to the installation, this link has some useful help: General Installation Issues (Windows) - The Document Foundation Wiki . Did you see any error messages during installation?

It might be possible your LibreOffice user profile has been corrupted. If Writer works OK in LO safe mode (Help > Restart in safe mode > Continue in safe mode) then you might need to reset your user profile by one of the two methods in the link.
Note that by resetting you might lose your AutoCorrect, dictionary, template changes unless you back them up and restore them.
