Writer not saving file in the same folder when doing „Save as”

Hi,

When I open a Writer file and do „Save as”, it should save the file in the folder in which the file was opened.
For example if I open a Writer file in folder C:\Car then with „Save as” it should save it in te same directory. But insted it saves it in the last folder I used „save as” to save it. For example D:\House. So I am forced to manually selected the target folder every time.

Is there a way I can change it?

Few days ago I upgraded LibreOffice to 24.8.6.2.

My version:

Version: 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 6d98ba145e9a8a39fc57bcc76981d1fb1316c60c
OS: Windows 10

Thanks for any help.

maybe → Save As

File dialogs - such as Open, Save As and the like - are available in two different ways:

  • As native file picker dialogs of the window manager of your operating system.
  • As built-in LibreOffice file picker dialogs.

Use Tools - Options - LibreOffice - General to shift from one to the other.

If you are able to change the source… Otherwise, please wait a bit:

Hi,

I managed to solve the problem.
I upgraded my LibreOffice to version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64) .

After this the “Save as” finally saves the file in the folder in which the file was opened, just as I wanted.

I’m leaving this post so it could be help to others.

Same issue here - catastrophic. I distributed my files ofer hundreds of directories until I noticed that- always wondering why my files vanish.
Tried to file a bug report, got stonewalled with “well, you installed it from repository, not from the webpage, go away” (more friendly, but meaning the same).
Using it under Manjaro/Arch. Unfortunately, the 25.x Version is broken and cannot open any Calc file any more (“Mistake in XML file”).
This is highly unstable behaviour.

but your real problem seems to be

wich seems not related at all.
.

To be honest: With the data provided here nobody can do anything but waiting, if others report the same problem and maybe provide an example file for first inspection. But this does not seem to be related to the folder where you saved. So create another thread.
.
PS: In this situation I’d create another copy of all my files without using LibreOffice…
