Writer: What's the source of Writer's properties Created and Modified?

Certainly not the same as Explorer’s, it seems.

Windows Explorer General:

File Properties
Modified
Displays the date and time and author when the file was last saved in a LibreOffice file format."

it’s maintained by LO in the document, independantly from move/copy over filesystems.

see meta.xmlXML File Formats

How do I get document information from the command line? - #6 by magicfab
etc …

So does “Displays the date and time and author when the file was last saved in a LibreOffice file format” refer to last saved by LO?

from just a logical pt of view would be too restrictive.
can have been saved by another app conforming to ODF, other format with metadata.

Aha. That would seem to make " in a LibreOffice file format ”" meaningless - at best.

I just created a new .DOCX in MS word. Explorer says

Writer properties says:

you got the idea;
now very welcome to test, and report problems or enhancements.
some are long time pending 65209 – FILEOPEN: MS Word document properties creation times etc. time zones not preserved/displayed
but probably not worth trolling if it’s just to ignore underlying context/complexity.
e.g. Are Windows file timestamps timezone aware? - Super User

and for reference, just created a docx :

and FS says :
Access: 2025-09-02 21:37:12.999690543 +0200
Modify: 2025-09-02 21:37:08.095952150 +0200
Change: 2025-09-02 21:37:08.095952150 +0200
Birth: 2025-09-02 21:37:08.094662742 +0200

I see now we probably cannot say whether Writer’s Modified and Created are supposed to show the corresponding file system properties, so I’ll just … stop thinking about it.

Thanks.
