I want to have two different dropdown lists on my spreadsheet. However, I can define them and give them two different names, but no matter which name I put in the Data Validity dialog, only the first one will show up. I have a sample spreadsheet, but I don't see a way to include it here.C:\fakepath\DropdownError.ods

Update: I have (I hope) now attached my sample.

In your sample file the source is the same for both lists: "First"

In my environment just replace with the second data range for it to work: C:\fakepath\2drop.ods

On the other hand, for information, the named ranges are more commonly used for this than the data ranges.

Thank you for your info about named ranges--I hadn't seen them yet. I have been using Excel for years, but only recently went to Calc. For whatever reason, changing the source today worked but it wouldn't yesterday--I tried several times before posting the question and it just kept changing it back. .
