Can't open MS Office 365 document

When I try to open an Office 365 .doc file I get the following:

This document was created in online version of Microsoft Office Word
To view or edit this document, please click “Enable editing” button on the top yellow bar, and then click “Enable content”.

I don’t see a bar, yellow or any other color. Does someone know if there are menu items that could work?

Thanks for any help,
Doug

I wonder if those are real document, or if many of users receive malicious emails…

Have you searched this board? See office 365 document contents not displayed - quite recent, and about the same subject. The screenshot displays a (blue) bar at the top of the Writer text area with a button to enable editing.

Please provide information about where the .doc was stored - online or on a harddrive, or is it an unsaved email attachment? All such things matter.

I saved it in my downloads folder. It did come from someone I know, but it was a reply to an e-mail from 2009! So maybe I’ll just delete it and wait to see if they resend. Thanks.

Better make sure that your or their email address hasn’t been hijacked. See my answer, that mail suggests a virus, and you don’t get viruses on purpose from people you know.
