Having issues saving existing files or creating new ones in LO Version: 5.4.7.2 (x64)

Hello,
I recently installed LO Version: 5.4.7.2 (x64) and I’ve just discovered that I cannot saves existing files or create new ones in Writer or Calc. This is the type of message received:

Error saving the document Swimming:
General input/output error while accessing C:\Users\mike\Desktop\Swimming.ods

and

Error saving the document Swimming:
General Error.
General input/output error.

The issue seems to have appeared since I installed the new version. I have an HP laptop, Windows 10, and use Windows Defender as antivirus. Have had no issues at all with earlier versions of LO. PLease advise. I use LO all the time, and have appreciated its functionality. This latest issue is frustrating. Thank you.

I have tested your process with me. I saved to C: \ users \ USERNAME \ desktop \ FILENAME.ods (also tested with * .odt). There are no problems. Try downloading and installing LibreOffice 6.1.1. (with me and also Win 10).
Uninstall your old version beforehand.

If you do not want to upgrade to LibreOffice 6.1.1, try updating your user profile:

See this Q&A related to LibreOffice on Win10+Defender.

Dear Mike - I checked the Windows Defender route you suggested. That was the problem - Controlled Folder Access. For the time being I have turned off that Ransomware Protection, and I could save files with no issues. I had no idea that this Windows functionality had changed. Much appreciated.
