Paste tables from Writer to Impress

Greetings,
when I try to paste a table from Writer to Impress I lose formatting (font face, super- and subscript), and the document becomes extremely slow to handle - sometimes LO simply hangs completely. Problem verified on at least four different PCs (all Windows 10).
Is this a known bug or a “feature”? Does any body know how to paste a table without losing all the formats and especially without getting Impress behaving like a turtle?
Thanks in advance
P.S. LO Version 6.1.2.1 (x64), build 65905a128db06ba48db947242809d14d3f9a93fe

As “always” Base provides a solution. For the attached presentation I hit Ctrl+Shift+F4, selected a query in my “Bibliography” database, selected a few rows and dragged them into Impress.

With Writer as a pseudo database:
File>New>Database…
Connect to existing database
Type: Writer document
Specify the source document and check “Register Database”.
Store the database.
Each table in the database document refers to a table in the Writer document. Nothing has been converted nor copied. Your data are still in the Writer document.
Go to the queries section and create a new query in design view. Select the table you need and select the columns you need in the right order of columns. You may add some sort order and filter criteria.
Close the database.
Now the database with its tables and queries appears in the data source window which is availlable in Writer, Calc and Impress too. You can drag table icons, query icons or row selections into Impress and get a coloured table object filed with the selected data.
impress_database_table.odp (36.8 KB)

That gives a completely screwed up result, unfortunately. Only part of the table is visible and there is no way to get all of it to fit the slide.

In addition to @kompilainenn I mention that his way is the right one. But you have to edit the pasted Writer table. Let me compare pasted tables from Calc and Writer.

  • Calc

This table fits without problems in Impress.

  • Writer

This table is “screwed up” on the first view. You have to double click on it, then the colour of the selected object handles changes from green into black. Now alter the boundaries or edit the table. When you have finished click on another part of page/slide and the altered boundaries will work. You probably have to do that as long as the result is not optimized. It is more work than pasting a Calc table.

See attached file and… try out yourself. (I worked on LO 6.1.0.3)

Thanks! This answer is very helpful for someone who just migrate from MS to LO (like me).
It works for table with a lot of figures, although it takes some times to adjust the position of table.
I hope in the future there will be paste into image.

You can try copy your table in Writer , then in Impress Edit → Paste Special → LibreOffice Text Document

That gives a completely screwed up result, unfortunately. Only part of the table is visible and there is no way to get all of it to fit the slide.

you can resize frame with inserted doc, just move marker on side of frame

You can select the table in writer and drag-and-drop it into impress.

Just copying and pasting didn’t work at all for me.
