automatic spell check not working

Oh man how I wish that one day LibreOffice will truly be a competitor for MS Office. I installed Manjaro and now I get all the latest and greatest updates and yet libreoffice still doesn’t work properly out of the box.

Automatic spellchecker is a must these days. This should work out of the box. I write in english most of my work and I need it, yet although it is activated from the tools menu nothing happens. What magic do I need to resort to, in order to turn this on?

Libreoffice made great progress lately and I really love it, but come on people, we need spellchecking!
