# Can I move the entire text at one side of document using Ruler instead of doing it line by line? (screenshot available)

I need to put mobile on one side of the screen where I use Google Assitance to find my answer. So I did this manually in each line:

Now the problem is: I don't want to waste my time using Ruler for each line.

There should a way to shift all text at one side of the document using Ruler and vice-versa.

Your question is rather obscure. Do you need to temporarily hide LO screen while having a look at another application (e.g. a web browser)? In this case, the answer depends on OS (common PC OSes like Linux, MacOS or Windows, mobile OSes like Android).

Remember that acting on the ruler changes document formatting. The ruler indirectly acts on paragraphs attributes. If paragraphs have different layouts, you can force them altogether to a common new layout, but you won't be able to restore original layout.

In the latter case, Ctrl+A to select all text, and grab the right margin marker in the ruler and move it to the left. Your text then reorganised as a narrow column which is, IMHO, silly and useless but YMMMV. Note also the window keeps its original size.
