I mostly work with .doc files in LibreOffice Writer V 4.0.4.2 (for reasons of inter-operability - the files have to run on different computers).

When I add a comment, writer adds a line break after the space where the comment is located between saving/closing and reloading the document. This didn't happen in the 3.x versions, if my memory serves correctly. Is there any way to rectify this so I don't have to delete the extra lines manually?

There are several currently open Writer bugs for doc+comment. None specifically deal with your issue of line spacing / carriage return. Bugs fdo#59530 and fdo#60506 may however be related. If you feel your issue is different again, please file a bug and provide as much information as possible. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your bug in the bugtracker.

Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format "fdo#123456".

Thanks!

Thanks, oweng. I couldn't find any bug that matched the problem so I filed a new one, fdo#66267, as per your advice.
