how to do in-text citations?

What is the option used for creating intext citations in LibreOffice? Like in Microsoft word, at the end of a sentence in brackets the name of the author and year or page number is mentioned?..How to do this in LibreOffice?

This a matter of styles. For in-text inserts, you need an adequate character style. So, please, edit (don’t answer) your question to describe how your inline citations must be formatted.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. What you want is to insert a bibliography entry somewhere in your text.

Changed common tag to writer so the question gets proper visibility.

@erAck: danke schön! I forgot to do it

Playing with bibliography is a three-step process.

##A - Create your bibliography database

Open the database with Tools>Bibliography Database. Writer ships with a demo database pre-filled with various entries. At your convenience, either erase unwanted entries or keep them and add new entries.

The DB has many fields. You don’t need to fill in them all.

##B - Insert bibliography entries

Where you need a bibliography reference, Insert>Table of Contents & Index>Bibliography Entry, select the short name from the drop-down menu.

##C - Create the bibliography table

The table is usually at the end of the document. In an empty paragraph, Insert>Table of Contents & Index>TOC, Index or Bibliography. Choose type Bibliography from the drop-down menu. If you’d like to customise entry appearance, go to Entries tab.
