How to change checkbox colors/style?

Similar to here (it didn’t get any answers).

I made some checkboxes on a spreadsheet - they work perfectly, but have a gold background. Is there a way to change that?

Tools > Options > Libreoffice > Application Colors doesn’t have it, as far as I can tell.

Control Properties > General > Background color changes the background color underneath the checkbox, not the background color of the checkbox. For instance here I changed that setting from default to magenta:

Also, is there a way to change the color and/or style of the checkmark itself? Default is a thick green check, as shown.

And is there any way to modify the box’s border style?

EDIT 2021-03-16 I updated to version 7.0.4.2 yesterday, and discovered that the default checkbox style has been changed. It’s very nice now, I’m happy with it, and am no longer interested in customizing checkboxes. Thanks to all concerned for the improvement, and for the help with this thread.

Update: in some recent version (I updated to 7.0.4.2 yesterday), the default checkbox style was greatly improved - they’re very nice-looking now. I appreciate that, am happy with it, and no longer care about customizing anything.

(I’m too new to this forum to know how to handle this here, sorry. Should I make this comment an answer? Edit my question? Close the thread? Guidance is welcome!)

@Inclement: if you’re no longer interested in an answer, you can close the question but this is not mandatory as contributors may always improve a non-closed question for community benefit.

Closing a question is just a matter of clicking on the close link at the bottom of it and choosing the adequate reason (here either “answered with accepted answer” or “not relevant or outdated”).

I don’t think it is formally an answer to the question (how to change …). You could instead edit your question (go to the bottom and add a paragraph stating with EDIT yyyy-mm-dd) to explain why you are no longer interested. Please use ISO-8601 data format as shown to avoid ambiguity in the present international context where people from different countries have different common ways of writing dates.

You have figured out how to do about as much as can be done in the normal calc environment.

However, there is a way to control the color, style, type and actions of this kind of control if you are able to use macro code to help calc along. I realize that may be a big “IF”… depending on how comfortable you are with macro code.

Thank you! I’m not familiar at all with macro code, so you’re right, it’ll take me a while to get through that.
