Similar to here (it didn't get any answers).

I made some checkboxes on a spreadsheet - they work perfectly, but have a gold background. Is there a way to change that?

Tools > Options > Libreoffice > Application Colors doesn't have it, as far as I can tell.

Control Properties > General > Background color changes the background color underneath the checkbox, not the background color of the checkbox. For instance here I changed that setting from default to magenta:

Also, is there a way to change the color and/or style of the checkmark itself? Default is a thick green check, as shown.

And is there any way to modify the box's border style?

You should have edited your previous question to update it with the above. This would have brought it back to the top position in the questions list. Now there is an unanswered question and its (answered) twin here.

To help the community, edit your previous question to add a link to the present one, mentioning the answer is here and close it as duplicate. I think an edit is preferable to an answer just linking here.

Sorry for the confusion, Ajlittoz - the original thread wasn't mine, it was posted by someone named Halloo. But what I can do - thanks for the nudge - is add a comment to that one, linking to here... done. (I don't have the power to close the other one, though.)

You have figured out how to do about as much as can be done in the normal calc environment.

However, there is a way to control the color, style, type and actions of this kind of control if you are able to use macro code to help calc along. I realize that may be a big "IF"... depending on how comfortable you are with macro code.

See the discussion on the OpenOffice forum here: [Calc] Check boxes and radio buttons

To see how it works, you can download, open, and enable macros for the demo file: checkBox.ods

I use LibreOffice 5.4 and it works for me...

Hope it helps.

Thank you! I'm not familiar at all with macro code, so you're right, it'll take me a while to get through that.
