[Answered] How to reset "shortcut keys" to default setting?

Hi everyone,

I’m using Windows 10, Libreoffice 6.4.2 Calc.

i have changed some shortcut keys in “Customize - Keyboard”, and after that, i tried to reset it to default setting by “Reset” Button. But it does nothing, it only works when you are changing your setting.

So my solutions are :

1 - Backup (Save button) default setting of “Customize-Keyboard”, and restore when needed.

2 - Delete “User folder” named “4” in the : %appdata%\libreoffice (this thing will reset everything to default, it look like you just installed libreoffice.

The second way is not useful if i have changed much things in the Libreoffice setting.

So my question is : Is it a bug ? or it is a default behavior of libreoffice ?

Thanks in advance.

==============================================

Generally, It is the Default behavior of Libreoffice.

Is it a bug ?

What is a supposed to be a bug? That button Reset only resets the current dialog’s setting?

There are 2 buttons in customize keyboard setting , and 2 “reset” buttons don’t reset anything if you were set up the hotkey. It only “reset” if you are setting up your hotkey. With that behaviour, if few days later, How can i get my setting back to its default?

As far as I understand, the settings made in Tools -> Customized are stored in file registrymodifications.xcu in your user profile and hence the only way to get back the defaults is to force LibreOffice to recreate the file (which gets done, if you delete the file). But this will also reset almost all other settings, you made through Tools -> Options. It is also possible to edit the file, but I do not endorse to do so. Take the Save-your-configuration-and-restore-approach.

Hello,

1st Reset button (upper part of the pane): This button resets a shortcut under two conditions:

  • The shortcut is selected in the left pane – and
  • The shortcut is a customized shortcut
(For sure there can be some discussion about the usability of this Reset functionality for single entries, especially when taking into account that there is no indication of predefined[default] shortcuts and customized ones).

2nd Reset button (lower part of the pane) This button resets current (new) assignments to shortcuts

All customization go into registrymodifications.xcu and to reset the customization you need to force LibreOffice to recreate the file by deleting the current instance of the file (LibreOffice must be closed before). Be aware: Settings made through Tools -> Options will be lost. Though it is possible to edit the registrymodifications.xcu, since it is a XML file, it is not recommended to do so. Corrupted files in the user profile may have strange side effects.

So, Generally, There is no way to reset to default setting when i had setup hotkey.

And your answer is the same as @anon73440385 But with more information about “Reset” Button. Thank you.
