Date showing as $ unless clicked into

Working with an Excel file is just
fine. But when saving as L.O. Calc,
(unless clicked into cell) the dates
all show up as a $

The file is probably in need of a bit of an overhaul…

Would also like to remove the blue from the background.
Thank you for your help!

Please attach a (redacted) sample document, edit your question and use the paperclip to do so.

What is a paperclip?

An icon you see (7th from left) when you edit your question.

Attachment is now included.
Hope edited text is better now.

Hi. This is mostly Conditional Formatting that you are seeing, if you remove it everything goes normal. You might want to edit the conditional formatting in case there is any format you want to keep but there are a lot of conditional styles in there.

Some cells have been overwritten with different style, font, and cell format.

Cheers, Al

What gets me is, after importing it from Excel and saving it to Calc format, everything looks just fine. It’s only after re-opening the document that those formats show up.

Also, none of this issue happens when dealing with Google Spreadsheets.
Why?

Btw Al, thanks for the lead as to all the work that needs to be done.

I don’t think files like round trips between different formats. There seems to be differences with conditional formatting between Excel and Calc, see Is there a way to preserve conditional formatting created in LibreOffice .xlsx and opened in Excel? Thanks

The problem is that the style(s) (btw, do you really need 131 of those?) used in the conditional formats have a Currency format set, so that is applied with the style. Change the style to use the desired (number, date,…) format instead.
