Some text I have sent by email cannot be opened by the recipients, so when I open my sent items and click on the sent text within the email it states “This text is in read-only mode” can this be the reason? and what is a read-only mode?

If you expect a decent answer, edit your question (don’t use an answer which is reserved for solutions) to describe as accurately as possible what you did (was the “text” sent as an attachment? in which format (.doc(x) or .odt)? Do you open the “sent items” from the email attachment or the original files on your computer?
Mention your OS and LO version.
