How to insert page numbers using Libre office 7.0

Every time I try to insert page numbers on a Libre Word document (more than one page) I go to insert, page number, click on page number and it types on every page of my document “Page Number” and does not insert a number. When I insert the number 1 to the right of “Page Number” it places a one on every page of the document. When I go to actual page 2 and try to replace the 1 with a 2, it places the number 2 on every page.

I have tried to clicking on field and then page number and the same thing happens. There should be a simple way to place page numbers on a document without going through 5 -10 steps.

I also went to “more fields” and selected page, page number; however, the selections offered did not include the number 1,2,3,etc. All the number were preceded by zeros, alpha, etc.

I simply want to include page numbering to my documents: 1, 2, 3, etc. Can anyone help?

Libre Word document

It is´nt a good Idea work with DOC or DOCX Format, when LibreOffice is used.

Basically:

Always create and save your files in LibreOffice and save them in ODF format (ODT, ODS, etc.).
Always keep these files as their source. If you need other formats for distribution to partners, you can open an ODF file and save and distribute another format with ″ Save as… ″.

This way, you always have working files available in your system environment.
