Edit comment disbled

Version 7.1.3.2 on Ubuntu

I’ve got a spreadsheet where I want to edit the comment and I’ve followed all the instruction on how to do this.

However when I have the button to edit the comment the button is disabled. I just can’t edit the comments.

What could be preventing the “Edit Comments” button from being enabled?

I’ve got a spreadsheet…

In which file format?

…I’ve followed all the instruction…

Which?

ods file extension.

When I google I’ve found instructions to get through the menu’s to find the “edit comment” button.

I’ve also found instruction to add the “Edit comment” button to the menu’s, I’ve also followed these instructions.

Regardless of how I get to see the “Edit Comment” button it’s always disabled.

When I google I’ve found instructions to get through the menu’s to find the “edit comment” button.

Right Click the cell having the comment -> Edit Comment (or CTRL+ALT+C while having selecte the cell with comment) - that’s the way to do it.

If the context menu does **not** exist, then check whether your sheet is protected (`Tools -> [x] Protect Sheet...`)

Doesn’t work, that’s why I Googled.

It doesn’t matter what I do the “edit comment” button is either missing or disabled.

In other spreadsheets it works fine but not in the particular spreadsheet I want to edit.

So what could be wrong with this spreadsheet?

Upload the spreadsheet - remove all private date and just leave the comment(s). Edit your question and use the paper clip symbol to upload a file. Please do not use “Add Answer”, since answers are reserved to solutions.

> So what could be wrong with this spreadsheet?

As already stated: It might be protected.
