I am using LO Writer in Qiana Mate on a PC. I am editing a file that I created, have previously revised, and am now revising again. I wanted to delete once occurrence of the word “own,” but can’t. It turns out that the letter “o” is read-only. (When I copied it into this document, it is not read-only here: o).

I tried copying the whole file with a new name, but that made no difference. I also tried changing the permissions for the whole file to 777, but the letter still can’t be deleted. Any idea what is going on?

That sounds quite bizarre! There might be a rational explanation, but meanwhile you could save a copy of your file as "OpenDocument Text (Flat XML) (.fodt)", and then open the *.fodt file in a simple text-editor (Gedit? "Pluma"?) and delete the offending word/letter - it might also reveal what is going on with the strange character.
