Writer: frame style doesn't update

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reading me!

I’m using the frame style “marginalia” to have notes in the margins for a scientific writing (.odt). I inserted the frames manually (if someone knows a way to put notes in margins automatically for the whole document, I take it!) and then applied the style. Until there, everything alright. But when I close the document, reopen it and decide to change the size of the frames through the style, it doesn’t work. What is interesting is that if I change the style before closing the document, the frames created since the last opening change. It means, the problem is that I “loose” the control on my frames when I close the document. I tried to use a custom frame style : same problem.
I use Libreoffice on Windows (version 5.0.3.2), from work, and on Ubuntu (version 4.2.8.2), from home : the problem is the same on both OS.

Thanks for any help,

nicnic

Are you using Insert > Frame or the textbox (T) button on the Drawing toolbar to insert the frames?

Hello oweng!

Thanks for your answers and the links.
I used Insert > Frame. I will try the textbox and check your links next week (I just got father for the second time, so… ;)).

Cheers,

nicnic

Unfortunately, frame styles have long had problems. List of open bugs for “frame + style” here. Bugs tdf#36535 and tdf#83133 are possibly related to the problem being experienced.

Hello again (a bit later than planed…)!

  1. I tired the textbox, but I think it isn’t working for me. First, it doesn’t have any style, so difficult to change all. Second, I use fields for the numbering of my marginalia, which isn’t possible with textboxes.

  2. I looked at the bugs, but I didn’t find any solution. For many bugs there are simply no one (sometimes since years…) and no bug is really the same as mine, although some are related.

So thanks, but if any idea, I’m still there!
