How can I stop LibreOffice checking for updates and resetting its preferences?

In spite of question 23930, LibreOffice 4.4(.7.2) keeps reminding me there’s an update available.

I go into Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Online Update. I set the period to “Every month” then UNTICK "Check for updates automatically, then close LibreOffice.

And the next week it starts up, the damn thing has reset the preferences to check every week.

I’m using LibreOffice installed from a package-managed system, so I mustn’t use the automatically updated downloadable version. For other reasons, I do indeed have LibreOffice 5.x installed on the same system. But 4.4 keeps ignoring and resetting the preferences.

Please, how can this be stopped?

From the recent wave of global ransom-ware attacks is this important reminder: keep things updated.

So rather than spend time trying to make the update message go away, today, I will update my LO again. I suggest you do the same.

I know this is not the OS. I updated that yesterday. Each little step helps. The machines that were attacked were older PC’s some of them still running XP. :-0

Sorry for their losses, but backup first, then update, then backup again, … are the things we all need to do today. k?

Here is just one security newsletter on this.

Taking a look on the program options it’s easy to find.
