7.0.4.2 crashes on start, linux

Splash screen appears and then disappears. No window is created.

Has anyone seen this problem before?

--safe-mode flag does not solve the issue.

Installed through apt.

version: LibreOffice 7.0.4.2 00(Build:2)

  • Which operating system (distribution + desktop manager) do you use?
  • Could you stop apparmor using sudo systemctl stop apparmor?
  • If “yes”, does LibreOffice start if apparmor is stopped?

Please do **not** use *Add Answer* but **[edit](https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/7-0-4-2-crashes-on-start-linux/65896)** your original question to enhance the details of the question (answers are reserved for solutions to a problem on this Q&A site). Thanks in advance …
  • debian bullseye (testing)
  • Desktop environment: lxqt
  • Window manager: xfwm4

stopping apparmor does not have an effect.

Just a test: does it start using any of the following command lines (suspecting a problem of the Video Class Library [VCL] support being installed or being not installed):

[1] SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice
[2] SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 libreoffice
[3] SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5 libreoffice

Got no bullseye (just buster) but you may not have installed

  • libreoffice-gtk3 and/or
  • libreoffice-kf5 and/or
  • libreoffice-kde5 (should be deprecated) and/or
  • libreoffice-qt (should be deprecated) and/or

On my Debian Buster (LxQt) LibreOffice runs with VCL:gtk3 (but my system supports almost any desktop manager, has installed almost all required libraries and hence this may not be representative for other systems)

Resolved!

Installing libreoffice-gtk3 did the trick!

Many thanks,
Ian
