I am trying to open my .mdb file by the Libreoffice base, but it’s not working. it keep asking me to link to an existing database driver. I have downloaded the jet 4.0 for microsoft access for the use of my libreoffice base and even all add-ons, but it’s still not working! So what can I do now is to use another software(mdb viewer)to take a look at it. Is there any way to solve the problem??
Thanks a lot!
Please tell the exact version of LibreOffice (Help>About) and the operating system you use. Please tell, how you try to connect to the .mdb file. Please try the description in Connecting to Microsoft Access - Apache OpenOffice Wiki and tell, which step fails for you. Can you provide the .mdb file?
my OS is the ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and I was failed to open the .mdb fileon the “step 2”-opening wizard. my sofeware is Libreoffice version: 4.2.3.3, build-420m0(build3) I am trying to open the file with wizard and try to “open an existing database”, and I am trying to choose the"microsoft access file", but there is not such an option. do I have to download another add-on to be able to choose it? by the way the .mdb file is th file which can be opened by the regular Microsoft access. Anyway, thanks for response!
Please put word Linux or Ubuntu into your question, so that Linux experts will answer. I only know Windows. It is likely, that you need to convert the file on the Windows machine. Have you already ask on the Ubuntu forum?
well, I think I have found the answer, that there are somebody who is working hard to make the .mdb files able to be opened by the libreoffice base. They are working on it, and it’s good to encourage and thanks for their effort!
Actually, I didn’t ask any question in the Ubuntu forum, but I think I could try!!
The answer is that opening MDB files from LO on Linux isn’t currently possible.
