Hi, I’m editing an existing document and the additions I make need to be in a different colour. The existing document is in black font and I need my changes to be in red font. The problem is that if I select red from the font colour it only remains red as long at the cursor is kept away from the black font, after which the new typing returns to black. I’ve also tried changing the font colour in Application Font Colour but the result is the same. Is there anyway to keep the new type as red while typing within a black type document? Thanks, Steve.
Since you want to highlight your changes, have you considered activating Edit
>Track Changes
>Record
? Your additions, deletions and modifications will be reported in different colours. These colours can be adjusted, if needed, in Tools
>Options
, LO Writer
>Changes
.
The formatting will somehow be disturbed by the change monitoring (and disappears as soon as your recipients accept the changes).
If you find the track changes feature too intrusive, you can create a custom character style to apply your preferred highlight colour. For maximum “comfort”, I suggest your associate a keyboard shortcut to this style (for activation) and another shortcut for Default Character Style to revert to default paragraph highlighting. For example, these shortcuts could be Alt+1 and Alt+0 respectively.
PS: when asking here, always mention OS name, LO version and save format because of differences between platforms. Note also that most solutions related to formatting are persistent, stable and reliable only for native .odt format.
Many thanks ajlittoz, that has solved the problem, and thanks for your advise on posting.
Steve.
