I have a document that has a numbered list with terms that I use as a template. It contains all of the formatting that I want at this time. However, when I want to insert new sections (numbers) into the list with text, it is not matching the formatting of the document and the numbering is starting at “1” for this new item. The subsequent numbered items in the list are not updating (increasing in number) either. Is there a way to format this so that the numbering matches?
You are using direct formatting I guess. Direct formatting is not consistent and if not applied, a paragraph be displayed in the paragraph style which is applied to it.
You are using Default Paragraph Style which is not intended for use in a document, instead it is the parent from which all other paragraph styles inherit some characteristics.
I see the paragraph style is Times New Roman 11 but the List number appears to be Arial 12 Bold. Based on that I made a document with a list paragraph style that uses a numbering style with a custom character style for the numbering. There is a little more explanation in the attached document.
