Hi, just wondering if it is possible to do as detailed above?
I know it’s an odd question, but I have a numbered list that would look a lot tidier if this were possible.
Many thanks.

If I understand you right, you have a numbered list with sublevels that gives numbered entries like 2.1.
, and you want to apply a different formatting to the “2” and to the “1.” In that case, it’s not possible with numbered lists, sorry: you can only apply a character style to the whole numbering of each level. The only workaround I can think of is to use unnumbered entries and simulate the sublevel numbering by hand, applying different formatting to each number (using character styles, of course ). You can use a cross reference field for the main level number, but using fields for the sublevel number (for example, a sequence) will be a lot of work: you cannot restart a sequence at will.
